Day one of Beauty Melbourne leaves the industry buzzing

Day one of Beauty Melbourne proved a hit for Victorian beauty professionals, who shopped, networked, and experienced new trends and inspiration at the region’s premier trade show for the industry.
“It’s been a phenomenal opening day here at the MCEC for Beauty Melbourne. This year we’ve made some significant improvements to the show, to ensure we deliver the very best in value education, business support, shopping, discovery and a chance for beauty professionals to get together and celebrate this vibrant industry,” said Cory Watson, Beauty Melbourne’s Event Director. “You can see that visitors are soaking up as much as they can from our education sessions and by discussing the innovative products on offer with our incredible exhibitors. The feedback we’ve had so far suggests visitors are leaving day one inspired to implement these key learnings back at their businesses and are excited for what these tools can help them achieve in their careers”, concluded Cory.
Highlights from day one included key learnings from celebrity makeup artist and cosmetic tattooist, Gordana Willesee-Poljak, who led an education session this morning designed to demonstrate the benefits of cosmetic tattooing and techniques involved in making permanent makeup look flawless and natural. With the demand for permanent makeup increasing rapidly in today’s beauty industry, Willesee-Poliak’s session proved to be a big draw-card for visitors.
The Advanced Social Media Bootcamp workshop led by online marketing and business guru, Heather Porter, was another highlight of the day. Demonstrating how to build your brand and make more sales on Facebook and Instagram, the hands-on session provided invaluable learnings for visitors wanting to help their business make a splash on social media.
There was plenty of live-action for visitors to experience on the show floor, with free presentations and demonstrations on the Beauty LIVE Stage on topics in Anti-Ageing and Makeup & Grooming.
Aesthetic Skin Practitioner with over 25 years of industry experience, Sarah Hudson, was the MC at the Beauty LIVE Stage and also led a popular session on the stage, Treatment Room Styling and Set-Up. “I loved being able to interact with the speakers today as MC and get the audience involved, it made it a lot of fun and created a personal experience for the audience. The boutique nature of Beauty Melbourne is fantastic; the exhibitors and educators get a lot more personal attention and it was great to see that today. I like talking to the exhibitors and finding out everything about their products. You really get to know and feel the products that are on offer and I think that’s a great part of Beauty Melbourne that sets it apart from other shows. Every single time I come to Beauty Melbourne I make a personal connection and for me that’s definitely a highlight”, she said.
Shopping bags appeared full with visitors spoilt for choice on the show floor, with 100+ leading brands to sample and shop from. Shoppers could experience products from hair removal, makeup, furniture, technology, injectables, skincare, teeth whitening, nails and everything in between.
Many exhibitors return to Beauty Melbourne year after year, like Crown Brush Australia.
“This is our twelfth year at Beauty Melbourne and it’s actually been our busiest year to date, and it’s only day one! It’s been a great day meeting our existing clients, introducing our products to new clients and being able to meet a lot of makeup artists who love our brand. It’s really nice to interact face to face and that’s why we enjoy coming back to Beauty Melbourne each year,” said Chris Coffey, owner of Crown Brush Australia.
Beauty Melbourne will open for its final day on Sunday 24 March from9:00 am to 5pm, where another full day of learning, shopping and networking will unfold at the MCEC.
